  5. Hi Martha!
The updated website is great. Been a big fan for a long time. Was so psyched to see you in boston a couple years back. Just wondering if any east coast plans are falling together?

    Thanks, Adam.

  6. Hey Martha I see you spend time in Oregon and was wondering if you would be able to play at my wedding on the Oregon coast in August?

  7. Hi Martha, I was wondering if you’d ever consider touring, New Zealand in the Summer of 2013 maybe? I’ve been a big fan of your work with The Motels since, I was around 14 ( I think? I’m 28 now) when I discovered my parents, copy of “Careful” and fell in love with the lyrics. Thanks for your time, Sarah xxoo

    • Oh you know I would love to return to New Zealand… one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been… I truly hope we will be back soon. In the meantime, thank you Sara, for hanging in all these years, really appreciate it!…m.

  8. Did the motels ever make a recording with title `Check-in-Time`with ten songs?A couple of the songs i know. The others NO.Thank you in advance,Scott

      • I got the songs back in the early days of Napster.I don`t if someone compiled the songs and gave an album title name`check-in-time`who knows?songs are`,catch as catch can, every little tear,i cant believe,if i only knew,if you can`t stand the fire,in over my head,in the meantime, mister grey, last temptation, will you be there` in that order`maybe the song names might help.Waiting for your reply,Scott

      • Wow Scott you hit the demo bonanza… those are all songs that were never released, or weren’t supposed to be… don’t know what to say about it, I’m going to pass this along to management, see what he says. I really appreciate you giving me the heads up… hope you enjoyed them even if they we’re demos…m.

  9. One little important question? Is it, ” We lie about each others drinks”? Or, “we lie about each others dreams”?
Hope you come back to Lake Arrowhead this summer!

  10. I’ve always been a fan. But here’s a cute story. My lil cousin was trying to cheer me up and to my surprise he “mimed” , “Only The Lonely” to me. Perfectly! He’s a 16yr old Skate Punk! Martha is ‘TIMELESS’!

  11. Thanks for your reply Martha, know that it is heartfelt. I do miss hearing you over the radio, even though the radio is no longer just the radio anymore, times have changed, so must we. There is still a lot of opportunity out there, and I believe much demand for authentic, quality and emotionally and artistically pure music such as your own. Good luck this year Martha, and I hope you come to LA soon?

  12. Hello Martha,
Where have you been all of these years? I had followed you religiously during my college years back in the 1980s, both at the peak of your popularity (and before that), then almost over night, the music died. Of course I am exaggerating, but you WERE, to a large extent, the soundtrack of the 1980s, which makes you ICONIC. Your beautiful voice and no less beautiful visage had many a men, myself included, spellbound. We miss you, and want you back. Finally, why has your very best music gone out of print, I simply cannot understand that?

    • Jeff what an incredibly sweet and humbling note… believe it or not, I’ve never stopped doing this thing I do. I’ll admit it’s been a bit under the radar, but I have a feeling this year may be different… so keep a look out, we’re hoping for new music, new video and lots of shows… thank you again…m.

  13. Hi Martha!

Been a fan of the Motels for a long long time. My wife and I have two boys (7 years old) and when we listen to the mp3 player in the van, they always request “Remember the Nights” out of nearly a thousand songs. It’s got to be that golden voice that captivated me when I was a youngster! Say ‘Thanks’ to the rest of the Motels for the great tunes. I hope you guys make it out to the Kansas City area sometime.

  14. Happy New Year, Martha. I wish you health, love, peace, prosperity, and all other good things for 2013. I’m looking forward to seeing your show soon and hopefully get a chance to meet you! All the best.

  15. Hello,
I would like to let you know many years later Don’t Tell Me The Time is still one of My favourite songs.are their plans to release a new solo cd here in Australia.
    Cheers

  16. Martha it was great meeting and talking to you last night! I just bought your “Essentials” album on iTunes. Love your voice. Can’t wait to see you again.

    Clay

  17. Hi Martha! I just wanted to say THANK YOU for so many wonderful songs you have gifted the world. I am such a huge fan of you and The Motels. Your voice and beauty has stood the test of time. As a musician myself, I know how special it is when fans show appreciation for ones craft. So here I am doing that for you with lots of love, respect and admiration.

    • Hi Zac, I think ebay might be your best bet… Capitol has never released all the Motels albums, they licensed some of them at various times, “the Motels” the first album was in release for a short time… good luck, if I had one I’d send it to you…m.

  18. Long time Motels fan. Have seen you numerous times in various cities incl;uding L.A., Denver, Chicago. We worked up a deconstructed, punk version of Mission of Mercy. Hope you don’t hate it too much

    • Hi Stan, back home, after playing the Hollywood Bowl… lot’s of fun, my agents # is 310-542-0903… would love to come back to NZ, one of the most beautiful places on the planet, thanks…m.

  19. Martha, if you need any help with the site, let me know. They can be daunting and laborious. The side scrolling thing can be a little confusing to people ( some of the sections look blank)

    Thanks for the voice.
    B

  20. With Kiss releasing the Kissology Dvds box sets that span the bands entire career and making them big bucks I do not see why other artist do not follow. The Motels need to release all the music videos and live concerts and other goodies on a dvd set. People would buy this stuff if it where available legit instead of stealing it online. What Gives?

  21. Hi,
Been a fan of yours from back in the analog record days, lol (still have the Little Robbers vinyl). Saw you back in the early 80′s at a few small clubs and The Dome here in VA Bch. Then more recently here w/ the B-52′s at the American Music Festival out on the sand. You didn’t disappoint. Glad you’re still hitting it and hope to see you back this way again.

  22. tell it to the moon is a prefect opening song and just like you is a classic……but really, ANY of the songs would be great hear.
    Thanks for the reply.

  23. I am going to have to ask him about that one. Right now he is trying to recover from having a scenery wall fall on him at the Shrine. He’s a bit beat up but he will heal, nothing broken but stitches on his left hand and he is either growing horns or has a huge knot on his head, LOL. We are going to try and make the Canyon gig, if so I look forward to meeting you, hopefully.

  24. Looking forward to seeing you guys again in Lake Arrowhead…. and possibly stalking the night before in Hollywood? Love your hits and cant believe I can enjoy them live in such a great place as Lake Arrowhead! A-Men!
P.S. we have renamed the Lake after Howard, the guy who used to drive your kids to school when you lived in the valley……..”Lake Howard”… ( my mate in UK mispronounced it..and we just ran with it…. ) 0x0x0x0xx0x

  25. I understand that my husband really likes you and the Motels and that there may be a bit of brief history there somewhere. I would love to get him to see you play at Brixton on July 20 as that is right before his birthday. Oh by the way his name is Tom Terry Jr. He is in a band now playing harmonica they are a blues rock band “The Highway Bandits” they are on facebook, reverbnation and rockcityclub if you are interested in hearing some “in your face blues”
    Have a good one!

  26. Hello Hello Martha–
Was speaking to Jeff about playing in L.A. and **Voila*** decided to stop in at yer new site [by the way, check yer Facebook messages from “Otto’s Guitars”…. we go back a few years!
    First Impression: “Wow..nice and minimalistic”
Second Impression: “She’s only just started it..”
I’m sure it’ll look great… I like the colour scheme and the layout.
    Been living in Austin..it’s very………………………………hot.
Any gigs coming up in the Austin area??
    Best–
    Brian.

    • Thanks for the note, yeah minimalist… otherwise known as not very good at this stuff, and life has been bogging me down with such time consuming details that I haven’t had a lot of time to spend on it… but it’s nice to have peeps stop by and ponder it… much as I do… Try to stay cool, all the best…m.

  27. Martha – Do you ever consider working any of the Policy material into a set. Twenty-five years later, I still think it’s a brilliant collection of songs!

  28. Hello,
I just finished watching “made in heaven” on the telly. Just thought I’d look you up. Your voice is beautiful. I like the slow and rhythmic beat..like a deep heartbeat sound….very soothing and I couldn’t walk away.
I read your new website. Yes, it is very time consuming to set one up. Also frustrating since they didn’t teach computers when I went to school. But you’ll soon get the hang of it, and you’ll be posting and writing stuff all the time. It can be fun and a creative let out.
Anyways, back to re-finishing my house deck with oil…California sun is a b***** on wood. Thank you for you time. Good luck! ;)

    • thanks for the note Bernadette, yep, between projects I plan to conquer this new world… good luck with the deck, (I just finished stripping the beams and woodwork in my living room, gotta love the wood!)…m.
